Sinopsis:
El joven Lumi nació en un pequeño pueblo que ni siquiera posee una sala de cine, pero se enamoró de las películas mirándolas por televisión. Su película favorita era una sobre marcianos que destruían la Tierra con sus platillos voladores titulada “La Guerra de los Mundos”. Su sueño era realizar una película como esa, sobre platos voladores atacando la ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Al llegar a la adolescencia, Lumi se muda a la gran ciudad y allí vive en la calle y en casas tomadas, pero nunca deja de hacer películas, muy baratas, con decorados fabricados con basura, utilizando actores y actrices que encuentra en cualquier lado y, ansiosamente, espera el momento de hacerse rico y famoso con su gran película sobre platos voladores.
Durante el rodaje de una de sus películas, Lumi se desmaya. En el hospital, le informan que tiene un tumor cerebral y que sólo le restan unos meses de vida. Aun así, sin trabajo, sin dinero, sin novia y enfermo a punto de morir, Lumi no se desanima. Y pasa sus últimas semanas de vida filmando su soñada película sobre platos voladores, cueste lo que cueste.
Synopsis:
Young Lumi was born in a small town, a town without a movie theatre, but he fell in love with movies by watching them on TV. His favorite film was one about Martians destroying Earth with their flying saucers, titled “The War of the Worlds.” His dream was to make a movie like that, a film about flying saucers attacking the city of Buenos Aires.
When he was a teenager, he moved to the big city. There he lived in the streets and in squatted houses, but he never stopped making movies, very cheap, with sets made out of garbage, using actors and actresses found anywhere. He was anxiously waiting for the moment to become rich and famous for having made his great film about flying saucers.
During the shooting of one of these films, Lumi fainted. At the hospital, he learned that he had a brain tumor and he only had a few months of life left. Even then, having no job, no money, no girlfriend, being ill and on the verge of dying, Lumi was not discouraged. He spent his last weeks of life making his dreamed movie about flying saucers, whatever it took.
