URUGUAY FILM FEST - PANORAMA LARGOMETRAJES INTERNACIONALES
Historia espacial intergaláctica donde naves extraterrestres (con forma de objetos cotidianos) invaden la tierra buscando el poder para absorberlo de unos individuos e implantarlo en otros. Hay momentos de absurdo brillante, con descalabros en la 9 de Julio y en la Casa Rosada, que recuerdan el célebre Ataque de pánico del uruguayo Fede Álvarez. Pero donde Álvarez borró con mucho ingenio y talento las limitaciones presupuestales hasta hacerlas casi desaparecer, Lumière utiliza el mismo talento para abrazar deliberadamente el aire “clase B”. Debe saberse que este es el último opus de un tal Tetsuo Lumière que no es francés ni japonés, sino argentino joven e irreverente. Aquí confirma sospechas de intentos anteriores: el tipo hace películas con cero presupuesto, no se preocupa que sean literalmente precarias, tiene ingenio, a veces humor y hasta puede crear un club de fanáticos seguidores, pero habría que saber quién es.
An intergalactic space story where alien ships (shaped as everyday objects) invade the Earth in search of power which they absorb from some individuals and insert into others. There are moments of brilliant absurdity, with disasters in the Avenue 9 de Julio and the Casa Rosada, which make you think of Panic Attack! by the Uruguayan Fede Álvarez. But where Álvarez rubbed off in a clever and talented way the budget limitations, almost making them disappear, Lumière uses the same talent to deliberately embrace the “B movie” style. It should be noted that the latter is the work of a Tetsuo Lumière, who is neither French nor Japanese: the guy makes films with a nonexistent budget, is not worried about them being literally poor, he has wit, sometimes humour and can even give way to a fan club, but you’d have to know who he is.
